Antietam
The battle of Antietam was fought in Washington County in Maryland from September 16 to the 18 on 1862. The commander of the union side was George B. McClellan ,and the confederate commander was Robert E. Lee. The union had 87,000 soldiers fighting for them,but the confederate only had 45,000 soldiers fighting. The results of this battle where 12,401 causalities from the union side,and 10,316 causalities from the confederate side. The battle stayed inconclusive.

The most significant thing about this battle is that president Abe Lincoln issued the emancipation proclamation after the announcement of the north's victory. Also that this was indeed the bloobiest day in history.
